The M-43 Service Shoe is really what we would call today an ankle boot. It was in fact the standard issue combat boot for G-Is in WWII. They look great on feet, fit very well - I ordered size 9 US, one size down from my 'typical' size - and are surprisingly comfortable out of the box.
